GENERAL INFO: TYPICAL WEEK
Each
student's schedule will differ, depending upon a variety of factors:
age, musical ability, instrument, number of assigned chamber groups,
participation in concerts, and personal goals.
Instrumental students' mornings are typically set aside for individual
lessons and practice. Chamber coachings and chamber group practices
are scheduled for weekday afternoons. In
the late afternoon, many students take advantage of the library,
music library, and athletic facilities on the Bowdoin campus.
Composition and Woodwind students will have discrete schedules depending on
the level of integration desired with the instrumental and chamber music programs,
and will be determined in collaboration with each program's director.
Artists of Tomorrow student concerts are
held several times each week in the evenings. Two artist concert
series are held weekly: Upbeat! and MusicFest. Masterclasses are
scheduled throughout the week. On weekends and occasional afternoons,
the student life staff organizes outings to area beaches, state
parks, movies, and shopping (L.L. Bean etc.). Additional weekend
activities are planned for younger students, including ice-cream
parties, movie nights, sight-reading parties, whiffle ball tournaments,
etc.
