GENERAL INFO: FACILITY FEE/RECREATIONAL
ACTIVITIES
Cultural, social and recreational opportunities, both on and off
the campus make Bowdoin a particularly
attractive setting for a summer program. Each festival participant
is charged a mandatory facility fee which gives him/her access to
Bowdoin's practice and performance spaces, libraries, museums, athletic
complex, and playing fields.
The sports
complex includes a 16 lane pool, indoor an outdoor tennis courts
and fitness center. The college's Hawthorne-Longfellow
Library and the Beckwith
Music Library contain a large collection of scores, records,
compact discs, and books for the use of festival students and faculty.
The college's two museums
are also open throughout the summer.
Students can also sign up for outings to nearby beaches, state
parks, fairs, movies and other special events as they are planned
by the Student Life staff. These outings often require additional
funds for admission, food, souvenirs, etc.
