FACULTY: VIOLA
Ralph
Fielding: Faculty, Lynn University Conservatory of Music.
Was on the viola faculty of the University of Southern
California, the University of California Los Angeles and Texas Tech
University and also spent 16 years in the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
Has helped students prepare musically and mentally for the most
competitive of performance situations; his orchestral repertoire
students have won a number of recent auditions on both violin and
viola. He has given master classes at Oberlin College, the Cleveland
Institute, New England Conservatory, Northwestern University, San
Francisco Conservatory, Rice University and the New World Symphony
and has been an adjudicator for ASTA, MTNA, Suzuki, AVS/Primrose
and many other competitions. Holds BA, MM, and MBA from Yale University.
In residence for full six week session.

Michael
Klotz: Member, Amernet String Quartet, in residence at Florida
International University. An
avid chamber musician, recent appearances include Weill, Alice Tully,
Merkin, and Steinway Halls, MOMA, the Kosciuzsko Foundation, Columbia
University and other prestigious venues throughout the US,
Mexico, and Europe. Appeared with Buffalo Philharmonic, Penfield
Symphony, Mannes Bach Festival Orchestra, and the World Youth Symphony.
Has enjoyed collaborations with members of the New York Philharmonic,
Metropolitan Opera, Philadelphia, and Zurich Tonhalle Orchestras.
Associated with the New York String Orchestra Seminar since 1997.
Holds degrees from Eastman and Juilliard. Teachers include Zvi Zeitlin,
Lewis Kaplan, Toby Appel, and members of the LaSalle, Juilliard,
Guarneri, and Vermeer Quartets. An alumnus of the Bowdoin Music
Festival, Mr. Klotz performs on a Antonio and Hieronymus Amati viola
from 1619, on loan from Peter Kamnitzer,
the violist of the LaSalle Quartet. In residence for full
six week session.

Rami
Solomonow: Faculty, DePaul University; member, Chicago
Chamber Musicians. A graduate of Tel Aviv's Rubin Academy
of Music where he studied with Oedoen Partos, Mr. Solomonow was
a member of the Israel Chamber Orchestra until 1972. After moving
to the US in 1973, he studied with Shmuel Ashkenasi, and served
as the Lyric Opera of Chicago's Principal Violist from 1974-1995.
Also, from 1995-2004, he was the violist of the Chicago String
Quartet. He has performed as a soloist and chamber musician
in numerous music festivals in the U.S. and abroad in Israel, Japan,
and South America. Mr. Solomonow has performed on live broadcasts
on WFMT, WQXR, and NPR and has been a guest violist with many string
quartets. He has recorded with the Vermeer Quartet, Chicago Chamber
Musicians, and with the DePaul Wind Ensemble as a soloist. One recent
recording of Mozart chamber works has been nominated to the Grammy
awards. In residence for second three week session.
