Arie Vardi, Piano
2010: Second 3 Week Session Faculty: Hochschule fur Musik in Hannover, the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music, Tel Aviv University. Arie Vardi has been a winner in the Chopin and George Enescu International Competitions. His music studies at the Rubin Academy and in Basel were with Paul Baumgartaner and his composition studies were with Pierre Boulez and Karlheinz Stockhausen. He also has a Law degree from Tel Aviv University. Mr. Vardi has given solo performances with major orchestras under the baton of Semion Bychkov, Kurt Masur, and Zubin Mehta, among others. His concert tours have taken him all over the world and his RCA records have won international acclaim and prizes. He is known to TV viewers for “Master Classes”, the family series of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, which he conducts and presents, and his new series “Intermezzo with Arie." He has been a jury member for competitions in Beijing, Cleveland, Hamamatsu, Leeds, Milan, Moscow, Munich, Salt Lake City, Santander, Sydney, Tokyo, Vienna, Warsaw, and others. He is artistic advisor and Chairman of the Jury of the Arthur Rubinstein International Master Competition. Many of his students have won first prizes in international competitions. He recieved a Minister of Education Award in 2004 for lifetime achievement. * In residence for weeks 4 and 5. Will give 3 weeks worth of lessons in 2 weeks of residency. |
